Four Ways To Be A Part of Firefly

The more you feel a part of our community, the more fun you will have.

1) MAKE ART
Art of all kinds is central to our shared vision. Check out the art page.

2) VOLUNTEER TIME
Firefly is created entirely by volunteers, and the more people commit their time, the more power we have to make it safe and fun. Check out the volunteers page.

3) SHARE EXPERIENCE
Fireflies tend to be really nice people. If we don't greet a newcomer right away, it's usually because we're caught up in what's going on around us. Dance with us, talk with us, play with us, visit our camps and invite us into yours, share food and gifts, and you will form beautiful bonds.

4) COMMUNICATE AND LEAD
Firefly is a unique community- we have no phones or e-mail, and no hierarchy of leaders. You have the ability to make fun things happen by inspiring the people around you. You also have the ability to help us deal with emergencies or difficult situations by listening to others and doing your best to pass on accurate information about what's happening and what's needed.

The Logic of Participation

To make Firefly fulfill its promise, we all must participate.

Proof:
Given that every action has the ability to affect each individual at Firefly...
Given every action has an equal and opposite reaction...
And given a communal event...

If each person at Firefly creates, does, teaches or shares something with the rest ("participates")...
Then every other person will, in turn, receive.
Artistic giving is the core of Firefly.
It is in the nature of art to be enjoyable by many without dilution of the quality of the experience. Art is something which is consciously created.
Given each member of the Firefly community shares something they have created with artistic intent.
Given every member is free to experience that creation at its full "strength"...
And given that to experience that creation is to receive...

Then Firefly will become a cohesive community, where each member is aware on some level of every other member, each of us positively affected by the contributions of the other individuals of the collective.

The net sum effect experienced by any one participant equals the total number of participants times the contribution each has made.

More simply said:
If each of us participates, we will individually be gifted with returns of perhaps hundreds of times the initial investment of good intent which we put into the event.
You will make a difference. It's just been proven.

Get creating. See you in the forest.
