THEME CAMPS

Camp Nexus
Jacqui Manzi, Johnathan West (Chooch), Andy McMurry?, and Joseph Unruh present Camp Nexus, which includes the following four elements:
  1. Firefly funded artwork: Euphorbia
The orbs will be rearranged differently for each night, and will either be hung from trees or hung from wire of our own construction.
With their highly responsive LED arrays, the orbs will demonstrate the power of wireless communication and community interactivity.
  1. Designated firespinning area with performances and workshops; fire pit
The Grasshopper Collective will be hosting classes (spinjam) and a safety meetings during daytime hours and will also be performing fireshows at night.
There is also a fire pit at Camp Nexus!
  1. DJs and dance area
We are assembling our list of DJs with the intention of having continuous sound from 10PM to 2AM on Friday through Sunday, all sound before and after this time will be a low volume levels.
  1. PVC dome 32 feet wide.

Live Performance Camp
Come and play or just watch and listen by the fire! Steve, Sue, Paul, Angel, Joe, Tatiana, Gil, Adriana, Zig, Amanda, and Kris invite you to our stage. We will entertain you with our music and comedy but most of all we want to host your performance – a call will go out on the Fireflyblink list 1 week prior to the event. We will post the performance schedule at the Info Booth. Rock on Fireflies!

Birthday Camp
We are bringing BIRTHDAY to Firefly!
We will be approximately half a dozen people bringing gleeful renditions of the birthday song and party games for you to participate in (pin the tail on the raver, firefly pinata, etc.).
We will have a fire pit so we can make delicious birthday desserts to give to camp visitors!
-Abbie

Meat, Drink and Be Merry
There will be cooking of meat at our fire pit, and mixing of delicious cocktails, with softish music until around 2 am! Stop on by!
-Rich

Steam Bath Project
Returning to Firefly yet again! (Thanks John!)

Bring A Cup
Every community worth its weight has a fantastic neighborhood pub. Bring A Cup is the beer garden in the woods for Fireflies, and this year you might even say it is the "barcade" of Firefly as we will have various throwback 8-bit stylings of art, and music to enjoy along with a variety of homebrew fresh and on tap made for you by the various brewers in camp.

Our theme parties are generally on the earlier side of things, so camp is generally quiet by if not before midnight.

Bring A Cup should will have art panels, an LED wall-type display, a bar as last year, and hope to tarp out a large area to provide mulling/chilling space while enjoying a brew!
~eHawk

Video Installation
We will be bringing a setup consisting of a 10x15 tent, with two video projectors, screens, speakers, laptops and a small generator.

In addition to that, we are working on a separate laser 3d projection installation, meant to simulate a firefly flying in 3D space using lasers.

We'd be glad to share the tent with any other video artists who may be attending.

Sonic Beating Sound Pump and Cargo Net Camp
This is where the party is! The Sonic Beating dance camp features a large, clear dance area next to a beautiful fire pit (stocked with a mountain of firewood), multiple cargo net hammocks to chill out in, and THE SOUND PUMP: a thumping sound system operated by the Northeast's premier live sound engineer, Nick Binary. The music lineup will include the Sonic Beating crew and many more of Boston's best DJ's. A broad range of electronic dance music will be pumped, including psytrance, techno, dubstep, house, and more. Dazzling VJ projection and psychedelic decor will complete the experience. The entire space will be protected by many tarps to keep the party going in any weather. Come rock out with us!!

Twilight Tipi
good hello!
anne-marie and i plan on bringing our sioux-style tipi to the event, and hosting acoustic-only instrumental/vocal jams/improvisation sessions each evening. i plan on recording the sessions, and taking the recordings back to my studio where they'll be expanded and enhanced by state-of-the-art signal processing gear, then made available online...the tipi is 14' in diameter, so holds a goodly crew of hippies... it's about 16' tall as well... a twist: we are hoping to 'live' in the tipi (e.g. sleep/eat/etc.) as well during the event, so that's why music-making will be at sunset and terminate after an hour-90 minutes or so...

Firefly University (located near Twilight Tipi)
I'm starting up an academic theme camp called: Firefly University. Our motto is "ARS ET LUX" (Art and Light).
Firefly University will be open 24/7 and anyone can sign up to host a discussion, a lecture, or a class at anytime. There will be little more than a small covered space, maybe a few chairs, and your stimulating intellects.
If you have any questions I can answer, or to follow up, I'll get you whatever information you need. Please email:

STORE
STORE
is a fanciful pretend store environment where pseudo-commerce and role
play are key. No currency is exchanged, except the silly, pretend
kind! Payment types accepted: hugs, jokes, donations, presents, and
anything that both parties are comfortable with! In short, STORE is a
fun, free, pretend boutique with lots of silliness. We will be
carrying a combination of wacky and tacky clothing, outrageous
accessories, and the not so wild but incredibly useful
clothing/accessories for the unprepared. Please come shopping for the
things you never knew you needed and the things you never knew you
forgot!!! Or get a makeover!! Or chop up old outfits to make them new,
and spend some fun times with the ridiculously strange and crotchety
old shop keepers (watch out, they bite!)

Day/Times: Friday July 2nd 1-4 pm, Saturday July 3rd 12-2 pm and 5-7
pm and Sunday 1-4 pm.

Location: 289 Mercurial Path, Between to DIY Costumefest and LowRes?

DIY Costumefest
Location: 281 Mercurial Path, next to STORE
Date/Time: Friday-Sunday?

DIY Costumefest is excited to be returning to Firefly for the 3rd year
running. This year we are stepping up our game and bring more colors,
more total tutus, and for the first time ever MORE LIGHTS! Worried
about getting run over by an art car or getting lost in the woods?
You'll never worry again when you have your very own light up tutu!
Light up tutu you say? YOU BET! Any other cool classes? YES! But how
and when?

Light up the Fireflies: Friday July 2nd 11 am-3 pm (and beyond) .
Lights are limited to the first 50 fireflies so come early! Can't come
early? We have over 100 tutus to give away this year so you won't miss
out!

Tubular Crin with Sarabeth: Friday July 2nd 3-5 PM. Voluminous
hair, lighter than air, colorful coils without a care!
Fireflies....Accessorize with TUBULAR CRIN. It's FOR THE WIN!!! (And
the most fun that finger traps have ever been!)

Sarabeth provides the crin, you provide your own hair accessory to
embellish. Don't know what tubular crin is? Come find out!

Bling
Your Thing: Friday-Sunday? all daylights hours. Did you and everyone
you know get the same exact (insert thing here)? When you bring your
cup around do you want to feel like you're bringing your pimp chalice
around? Does the lack of personalization of your camping gear make you
feel listless and distant? Well come on down to Bling Your Thing. Come
and play with my vast selection of bit and bobs and glues and laces and
fringe and make the dullest of things into the most fabulous of
things! And NO I don't mean THAT thing, but if you must vajazzle I'll
have dazzles (but bring your own skin safe glue).

Suds and Spuds
will be in action again, bringing the tasty treats to all. Look for our fire pit!
-jon

Cabana Hammock
I'm hoping to bring a small theme camp presence to the woods this year. Cabana Hammock will consist of tasty beverages, chill beats, and lots of hammocks in the trees.

My music plan is for a day-only schedule (roughly noon-8pm each day on a small sound system). Somewhere between background music and a mellow dance party.
cheers,
j e f f

Sustainable Sound / lowRes
I make sound. It will be fairly loud sometimes.
There will be DJ performances etc.
There will be a fair bit of lighting as well

I need people to power my art.

I also anticipate the Granted art pieces Glowing Liquid Impermanence and Ethereal Thicket, as well as potentially Glowworm Chandelier being near my setup for power reasons, though these are not confirmed.

Pizza Pipeline
We are back for our second run at Firefly!

Pizza Pipeline is Firefly's own wood-burning Pizza Oven, this year with a new and improved Sweet and Mello Oven (TM)! You too can eat Pizza in the luxury of your own tent.

Our Random Pizza Delivery service will now be more Random than ever!

Be prepared with your own toppings because the Pizza Pipeline has only dough and sauce. Yes Virginia, the Pipeline has NO CHEESE. If you want it on your Pizza, you must bring it. Participate in the Pizza Pipeline by taking a shift working on making pizza, chopping wood, firing the oven, or being a Random Delivery Firefly! Enjoy pizza, pizza, and MORE PIZZA! Also returning this year, "Chocolate O'Clock".
The Pizza Pipeline reserves the right to make foods other than pizza in the Sweet and Mello Oven (TM).

Pizza Pipeline! Coming soon to the Northern Vermont Woods near You!
-laura

Black Tie Affair
Black Tie Affair will present classic board, card, and dice games with some chill tunes in a comfortable forest setting. Stop by for a civilized drink, sophisticad conversation, or to show off your finest duds. Come play backgammon, euchre, sand, chess, or the ubiquitous strip poker. Afraid you can't meet the dress code? Feel free to wear your birthday suit.

Verdant Bleep
How do colors affect us?
Do they alter the chemicals our brains release?
Do they have metaphysical or spiritual impact?
Do they have some primordial, genetically inherent meaning?
Does red make you warm? angry? horny? hungry?
Does blue make you cold? relaxed? distant?

Verdant Bleep is an experiment to find out how color affects your state of mind. Come taste what Green sounds like. Come see how Purple smells. Come feel the prickly warmth of Orange notes as they pluck and ping your ears and back. Come have your senses commandeered.
-nick

Hall of Arkham
Interactive theater camp, with shows during the day and quests to be fulfilled at night.

Based on Live Action Role Playing characters may be asked to find a relic, place a sacred object or battle a wraith. Light touch combat or non combat games can be chosen.

Choose from Medieval Fantasy of Sci Fi Adventures.
-Eric David Love

KidsCamp
We are a group of parents and kids, with a few non parents who like to camp with kids joining in besides. We will have kid related activities that adults are welcome to join in going on during the day, and a quiet adult chill space called "The Dreamtime Sparkle Lounge" at night once the kids go to bed.

Noise levels will likely be loud and filled with joyful shrieks and giggling during the day, very quiet at night.
We've got 11 adults, 8 kids.

An incomplete list of daytime activities:
  1. face painting
  2. mask making and other crafts
  3. nature walks
  4. twilight costume and glowstick parade

The Dreamtime Sparkle Lounge will serve up tasty beverages and snacks, and a chill soundtrack, offering a quiet oasis in the middle of the wilder fun that is the rest of Firefly at night.
-Megan

Colors Camp
As the name implies, our camp will have lots of colorful deco, including inflatable madness and in honor of Josh (DJ Skunk) Marshall, lots of bananas. Norajean is doing her chill hut (formerly part of Glitch) and will be hosting the return of the Hookah Lounge!! We will also have an above ground firepit.

Activities during Firefly include a banana eating contest and piñata Sunday. Check in for exact day/times.

PK4A
i'm going to be running a fire art project (a large flame effect connected to a wireless brainwave-reading interface).
-Seth

Bring a Plate When the Trumpet Calls
We will be serving 5 mass meals throughout the weekend. The meals will be signaled by the sound of a trumpet. Then all you need is a plate and an appetite (We have paper plates and forks that you can take with you as well). Come enjoy and nourish your body. The meals will be as followed:

Cajun corn with lime and queso fresco

Vegetable Curry with Jasmine rice

Brownie dessert with strawberry topping

Pasta with a red vegetable sauce

Pancakes with banana syrup

Chris and Jade
Outdoors Cooking Maniacs

Spa-ah
I will be offering "lite" showers with battery-op shower w/ spray-soap (dilute mixture of Dr. Bronners biodegradable & water); hoping to produce hot water from a wood-fired grill; possible massage table (not sure). Also planning to bring a pail of clay for minisculptures.
-Jonno

Camp Lazy Bastards
We'll have on the order of 15-20 people and a 19' x 12' or so tent for our public lounge/events.
-Nathan

Chill Hill
There's 5 of us. We'll be quiet as mice :)
- Gearhead Liz

Love Shackini
Stop by and get a free back massage from Ron Hod! Paul Erlich will drop in from time to time to serenade you with his acoustic guitar too.
-J

Camp Dada
Supervised by Crank & Kris, Camp Dada is a sub-infiltration of the performance/music stage, with headquarters near the giant eyeball. This annex is brought to you by the letter D.

INSTALLATIONS / ART PROJECTS

Collectivescope
I'll be bringing my Collectivescope.... I suppose only at a burn would a 4 1/2 foot kaleidoscope be considered medium sized art :-P
-Jenn

Galaxy
In the deep country at night there are two separate sources of light - the eternal points of light in the sky and the temporary lights of our earthbound creation. One of these temporary points of light captures the cosmos and represents it on a human scale. This piece manifests our celestial birthplace; our galaxy, the Milky Way. Welcome home.
