Fire Art and PerformanceFire spinning, burning art, fire sculpture, and performances involving fire are all welcome at Firefly! We ask that you contact 2010fire (at) fireflyartscollective (dot) org if you will be burning your art or using flame in your work. Please use common sense and follow the guidelines in the Event Guide. Do not hesitate to ask a member of the fire team if you need a place for your work or performance. There will be two brief fire safety meetings held during the event at 5:30 pm on Friday and Saturday in Camp Nexus. Anyone wishing to perform with fire as part of the fire conclave prior to the burning of the BUG must attend a fire safety meeting, and check-in with a fire safety czar (Chooch). We are also looking for a few volunteers to be fire safeties during the burns. All are welcome, no previous experience required. On Saturday we will meet at 5:30 PM to discuss plans for the fire conclave and fire safety. If you would like to perform or safety for the event please attend the fire safety meeting and check in with a fire safety czar (Chooch). If you plan to safety or perform please bring a towel that you do not mind wetting and possibly getting singed. We require performers to spin off prior to performing. This is a leave no trace event. We must avoid leaving burn marks at the event site. A spin-off bucket will be provided for the burn. The Flaming Lotus Girls have a really informative fire safety manual written by Les Young. Download their manual here. The NAFAA also has a safety guide. Please bring your own fuel. Firefly will not be providing fuel at the event. If you do not want to bring fuel try to find a friendly Firefly to gift you fuel. Firefly will make use of the two bucket system for white gas during the burn. The white gas fuel buckets will be provided by the fire team. If you plan on using another fuel please contact 2010fire (at) fireflyartscollective (dot) org. If you do not have your own poi, hoops, staffs, etc you might be able to borrow them from a friendly Firefly. Please be considerate with other people's equipment. Please do not dig your own firepit for a campfire. Share warmth and company at the community firepits and at themecamps. You are welcome to use camp stoves for cooking in your camping area, but no ground fires are allowed except at pre-exisiting firepits.
